Design of a low cost system for transforming a manual forklift vehicle into a AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle).
Design and development of a low cost kit composed by PLCs, PCs and Laser Scanners for transforming a manual forklift into a AGV, in according to the Italian and EU security standards, regulations and restrictions. The goal of the project consists in making the vehicle able to:
localize itself in the surroundings environment;
follow a desired trajectory (and take account into the main mobile robotic problems);
detect the presence of obstacles and eventually stop itself in a safe way;
offer a simple and intuitive User Interface for choosing the desired mission without waste of time.
Preserve the possibility of piloting the vehicle manually and offer a way for the human operator to get the control back in any moment during the automatic operations.
The final product is oriented to the small companies that want to approach to the warehouse automation world in a low cost way, without buying new expensive hardware.
